Personal Finance Workshop at Rayburn Correctional Center

We had the opportunity to partner with the Jesuit Social Research Institute by offering a Personal Finance Workshop at B.B. “Sixty” Rayburn Correctional Center in Angie, Louisiana.

Co2

2 Cohort of incarcerated students

The Ethics Fellows developed and taught four units exploring the basics of personal finance (with expert help from Professor Mehmet Dicle). They enjoyed sharing what they had learned with the incarcerated people enrolled in a Loyola University New Orleans associate's degree at Rayburn. It was particularly rewarding for the Ethics Fellows to connect with the Rayburn students as fellow members of our Loyola community. The Ethics Fellows found teaching these workshops particularly enjoyable because the Rayburn students were so highly engaged and eager to learn about personal finance. Through their participation in this workshop, the Ethics Fellows not only gained experience in teaching but also learned more about personal finance themselves and cultivated the virtue of solidarity.
