Through the Fellows program, the Center focuses on intentional formation of student leaders for lives of ethical business.
Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students are eligible to apply to participate in the Ethics Fellows Program.
Drawing on the resources of the Catholic ethical tradition, students spending a year in a Fellows cohort are given the opportunity to engage more deeply with important questions of business ethics and personal ethical formation, network with business leaders, and serve the New Orleans community by offering financial literacy training to under-resourced communities.
Program includes:
-
Weekly Lunch Colloquiums featuring either discussion of important ethics readings or meetings with ethical business leaders.
-
Teaching at financial literacy clinics.
-
Trips, events, conferences and retreats to further ethical formation

John Ehret Peer Coaching Fall 2025
The Peer Coaching Project is an experiential learning initiative launched by the Center for Ethics & Economic Justice (CEEJ) at Loyola University New Orleans. It empowers university Fellows to serve as peer educators and ethics mentors for high school students across the Greater New Orleans area.
Through a five-pillar framework in Ethical Financial Literacy, Fellows translate complex economic principles into relatable, real-world conversations that build financial confidence, ethical reasoning, and community trust.
Educational Innovation
Educational Innovation
Unlike traditional financial education programs, the Peer Coaching Project integrates moral philosophy and behavioral economics into each module. Students learn not just how money works, but why choices matter—cultivating ethical self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and discernment in financial behavior.
Fellows are coached to facilitate dialogue, not deliver lectures—making learning peer-to-peer, not top-down. This design builds trust between students and young educators who reflect their communities.
Community Impact
Since its pilot, the project has connected dozens of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish students with real-world financial coaching from college peers. High school participants report increased understanding of:
-
Bank accounts and digital finance safety
-
The consequences of debt and short-term borrowing
-
The role of budgeting in mental and emotional well-being
-
How ethical decision-making influences long-term stability
