Athera Yakoo, a University of Michigan graduate in Biology, Health, and Society, was awarded the Davis Projects for Peace in 2022 to install solar street lights in two Assyrian villages in Iraq. Passionate about human rights and education, she later partnered with Nineveh Rising to launch "Nineveh Jobs," creating employment opportunities for Assyrians. Now, during a gap year, Athera is teaching while preparing for graduate school, driven by her commitment to human development and justice.
